Maria Bodrug (Moldova, 1997) grew up in a country rich in cultural stories and traditions. From an early age, she explored a variety of art forms in order to express herself both as an artist and as a human being. Today, her artistic practice includes photography, video collages, design, painting, poetry, and performance.

ONE WORLD

AMERSFOORT 2024


Photos were commissioned to accompany Besan Zarzar’s article for One World on freedom of expression in Dutch schools amid the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The images depict two resilient sisters from Syria in Amersfoort, who actively support the cause through protests, social media, and community engagement. 

The article highlights the challenges teachers face in addressing this topic and the resulting tension in the classroom as students navigate restrictions on expressing their views.
